What is Genealogy of Adam?

Carolynn Testani: 1. Nibbana literally means the extinguishing of a flame = the extinguishing of the flame of craving, greed, hatred & delusion, hence it leads to the complete cessation of suffering and the termination of the samsaric cycle. In positive terms, it refers to supreme happiness, serenity.2. Nibbana is not a place but a state of mind where there is no such defilement to disrupt or disturb peace. Nibbana, which is the end of the worldly experience, cannot be and must not be sought outside the world. It is in this world itself. That is why the Buddha told a monk that in this fathom long body there is the world, the cause of the world, the end of the world (Nibbana) and the way leading to the end of the world.3. Nibbana can't be understood through words/ expressions/ study of the text. One has to understand Nibbana by actual realization. Nibbana is visible to the mind of those who enter the Path of the Sotapanna, Sakadagami, Anagami & Arahant, at the moment of ! deep insight into the Egolessness, Emptiness and Misery of all Existence. 4. Sometimes Nibbana may seem very remote and difficult to attain. But, It is not difficult to attain the "Tadinga Nibbana" (Nibbana for a moment) because virtuous conduct always brings peace and happiness in this life and in this moment. Anyone, who practises the Eightfold Noble Path, can taste the truth of Nibbana for a short moment, a long moment or a final duration moment accordingly. The best way is, of course, the practice of Satipatthana (the way of mindfulness) because it contains all the elements of morality and wisdom. it brings purity of conduct, purity of mind as soon as mindfulness on the mind and matter occurs.5. The attainment of Nibbana comes in two stages:a. Nibbana element with the residue remaining -->attained by the Arahant (the liberated one) in THIS PRESENT LIFE. The residue that remains is the 5 aggregates that constitute his present life individuality, the psycho - physical org! anism produced from the past life. Upon attainment of Nibbana,! his body and mind continue until the end of the life span. While living in the state of liberation, an Arahant still continues to perform the necessary functions of life. Though, he has completely uprooted defilements; greed, hatred and ignorance. There is no more craving, which sustains the process of becoming leading to future existences. The Arahant feels bodily pains, but it does not disturb his mind, cause him annoyance or sorrow. Arahant is also in a state of complete fearlessness. When we are frightened, what we are afraid of is a threat to the security of the self, to "my self" or those things I believe belong to me. But for an Arahant who had completely uprooted the notion of self, there comes liberation from all fear. With the abandoning of all forms of attachments the Arahant is free of agitation, restlessness and worry. An Arahant is in a state of complete equanimity, with perfect balance of mind. He is not shaken by the eight worldly winds: fame and dishonour! , praise and blame, pleasure and pain etc. The Arahant's mind is pervaded with immeasurable loving kindness & boundless compassion. Further, having completely eliminated ignorance, an Arahant acquires no kamma . His willed actions do not have the potency of producing future rebirth. He still performs volitional actions but they are mere activities. They dont leave a trace on the mind, just as the flight of birds flying across the sky leaves no footprints. The Arahant still reaps the results of the kammas performed by him before enlightenment, but these do not disturb his mind. b. Nibbana element without the residue remaining. This is the element of Nibbana attained by an Arahant with his passing away, with the breakup of his body/death. It's final and complete passing out from conditioned existence. It does not lead to a new birth. In his own experience, the Arahant sees only the cessation of a process, not the death of a self. The experience for him is without subjective ! significance, without reference to 'Me or Mine'. To try to speak about ! what lies beyond the ending of this process is to venture outside the boundaries of conceptualization, outside the boundaries of language. The Buddha illustrates this with the example of a fire. Suppose there is a fire, burning in dependence on fuel, the sticks and logs. Now if the fire does not get any further fuel, when it uses up the old fuel, then it goes out. Suppose we ask, when the fire goes out; where did it go? Did it go to the North? To the South? To the East? The answer to this is that none of these questions apply. All of these are inapplicable. The fire has simply gone out....Show more

King Bringle: I assume you're referring to 1 Chronicles 1:1, which mentions Adam's son, Seth, and eliminates Abel and Cain. Well, genealogy means "a record or account of the ancestry and descentof a person, family, group, etc." Abel didn't have any childen. Cain did have children but all his offspring were destroyed in the Flood. So, it wasn't necessary to mention the s! ons who didn't contribute any offspring to the family line.

Georgia Dees: Could it be that Jesus was not the true messiah, but one of Johns many students and wanna be messiahs?

Rick Duchane: Besides being an example for us, Jesus told John that it was to fulfill all righteousness (Mat 3:15). John stated that he was the one who needed to be baptized by Jesus recognizing that Jesus was greater than himself (Mat 3:14). There is a Biblical example that Jesus was also following. God often uses someone who has been under the ministry of a man God that has tried and approved. Some examples: Elisah followed Elijah, king David was anointed by Samuel. Timothy was commissioned by the apostle Paul. Jesus was submitting himself to John's ministry which was from God. John's father was a priest of Israel and so had spiritual authority and no doubt mentored John. Jesus at one time said that concerning John there was no one greater born of a woman. John came out preaching after ! about 400 years of silence from the last prophets of the Old Testament.! God was picking up the prophetic mantel so to speak with John who's main mission was to prepare the way for Jesus. Jesus was showing that He was following the Father's will by accepting John's ministry. When Jesus was baptized by John, the Holy Spirit showed up in the form of a dove and descended upon Him and the Father in Heaven spoke, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased". Jesus is God's son and the messiah while John the Baptist was the greatest prophet who lived....Show more

Cecil Derenzi: negative, jesus was baptized as an example for us, but most importantly it marked the start of his earthly ministry.

Dulcie Edis: because Jesus life on earth was to show us how to live and how we can be near to god the father, his batizing bye john was and example to us how we should lived as a christian and how gos went us to lived as christian.

Olen Penhallurick: **** like I remember. He lived 937 years then blah blah blah all the way to Noah who l! ived hundreds of years. And then we started living 40-50 years. And now we're back to 70-80.

Moira Woodrow: The stories of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel were probably originally different and unrelated myths that the Genesis writer has tried to make into a connected narrative. The difficulties and problems that we might now spot in the narrative lies in their separate origins, and might have either not been perceived by those who told and heard these stories, or they might not have been considered important, or as important as the attempts at explanations about why things are the way they are in the myths concerned. The Adam and Eve story was a myth that tried to explain how death, toil and other woes came into the world; and like the Greek Pandora myth, a woman is blamed (and by extension, in a patriarchal society, all women). The Cain and Abel story starts with God preferring Abel's sacrifice of livestock over Cain's sacrifice of crops, and might be a mythical attemp! t at recording the stresses and turmoils involved in changing from a no! madic life dependent on livestock to the settled life of farming that eventually led to civilisation. The land of Nod seems to be a way of saying that Cain wandered, and the fact that there were other people that he could encounter is a pointer that this story originally developed separately from the Adam and Eve one. Cain names the city he founds after his son Enoch. The narrative also states that Seth was also a son of Adam, who had a son called Enos (Genesis 4:25 & 26) as well as other sons and daughters (Genesis 5:4). The extensive genealogies show either a genuine attempt at trying to merge the various myths and traditions adopted and adapted from various peoples and cultures, or it's an attempt to give a manufactured authority to the stories, or a mixture of both....Show more

Ayesha Genova: Mud - Adam.

Lupe Sancen: I know why one should / does hate cast system, and if its in the scriptures then how its not a part of religion? It is, i guess. And even if i li! e sometimes,it doesnt mean i hate being truthful, so there's a difference in just not following a rule, and hating that rule.

Clay Lipira: Abel died without offspring and Cain was banished because he was a murderer. The geneology starts with Seth.

Ira Porietis: God, Adam, Seth (Adam and Eve's son) Luke 3The bible traces the genealogy in the Bible through the linage the Christ came to earth. All the people through out history are not recorded in the bible. Only those pertinent to the linage of Christ.

Michel Mccaulley: Just a guess here...... but they've seen the consequences of it.A permanent underclass..... is a permanent source of crime, disease, and rebellion. They have literally NOTHING to lose. Even if they are religious..... there is no lower rung on the ladder to be reincarnated to. And..... that's going to create problems... and it always has.Have you ever met a Christian or Muslim that follows ALL OF THE RULES of their holy book? Me neither.! ...because they don't exist.... and they are no less hypocritical for i! t....Show more

Gwenda Micheals: JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS SENT TO PREPARE THE WAY FOR JESUS! AT THE TIME HE WAS SHOEING THAT YOU ARE TO BE BAPTISED BY WATER AND THE HOLY SPIRIT!!

Sheron Perrez: enable me see if I bear in mind. It became a lengthy time period in the past... erm... John preceded christian baptism. It became in ordinary words years after that Jesus himself advised his disciples to baptize. good concepts could not be waisted. He stated something like: "Be sparkling contained in the sight of the Lord. flow now and sin no extra." And that became it. It became ritual cleansing... not a lot a initiation it later grew to develop into. The kicker became obviously the 'signal from the heavens'. it is what made the ritual properly worth repeating on each aspiring christian. it may be the first 'signal' even as Christ returns....Show more

Maria Bengston: It is the descendants of Adam only; Able had none as he was murdered by Cain, who was therefore cut off ! from the line of Adam and those who would be God's chosen people.

Trena Berum: Jesus is the one and only Messiah, but in the Bible there are other disciples and individuals that were blessed to do certain things....or they were instructed by GOD.

Rhett Kaines: I have heard A LOT of hindus, even brahmins saying they dont like this discrimination, so if someone doesnt agree to what hinduism says then how come he's a hindu? He might be a hypocrite then.

Wilbur Marksberry: Please....That's the point...He was showing us humility.....Here the Son of God kneeling before a common man for baptism.....He was also teaching us how to draw closer to Him. Humility and baptism.

Lu Tiner: In Buddhism, I believe the highest state one can achieve is call nirvana. Could you explain this state a little. Where are you when you achieve nirvana? Is it like a heaven or something. Would you still be an individual? What would you do or what happens once nirvana is achiev! ed? Thanks so much!

Davis Zou: We have a saying "like father-lik! e son", or, 'He's a chip off the old block'. The study of genealogy is often a dry subject out in the open, but virtually everyone of us has longed to know who our ancestors were, and how they fit into history. God's Word uses genealogy for a special reason. The chapters in the WORD devoted to the fact that so-and-so begat so-and-so for page after page are often overlooked and described as boring. But, my friend, I should not need to remind you that the Holy Spirit did not put these chapters in to fill up space. They are there that we may prove the WORD for ourselves. The first genealogical list is found in Genesis chapter 4. It is no surprise to me that Cain's genealogy is listed first. He was the first child born in this earth age. His father was not Adam, but Satan. (Jn 8:44, Matt 13:38, 1 Jn 3:12) Cain, we find, obviously did not look anything like Adam (Gen 5:3). Many have failed to see why Cain's offering was not acceptable. Yet, it is clearly written why. God require! s a blood sacrifice. True, you say, but the law was not yet given about the blood sacrifice! Yes it was, my friend. It was not only previously written, it was also demonstrated by God Himself. How do you think Abel knew? "Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them." Do you think for a moment that those animals gave up their skins without losing both their lives and their blood? Thus, in plain sight it is written right here that God Himself showed Adam and Eve the (then) acceptable requirement for forgiveness. In this case it was both a physical "covering" as well as a spiritual one acceptable to God. Now think for just a moment. Can you imagine what an impression this act must have made on Adam and Eve? They had NEVER seen ANY death up till this time, yet here is some totally innocent being shedding it's blood for THEIR sins. Does this remind you of something? It should remind you of Christ who came through Adam and Eve's offspring! to pay for all of the sins of all mankind. Surely, Adam and Eve told C! ain and Abel what God expected, but Abel alone believed. That is why Abel did it just right (Gen 4:4). Cain wanted to do it his own way. Cain didn't like it one bit (4:5), when God accepted Abel's sacrifice and rejected his (4:4). God did not chastise Cain, (4:6), but (4:7) offered him advice and showed him the way to be acceptable, but to no avail. So Cain (4:8) "talked" to his brother, Abel (wonder what they talked about?), killed him, and then tried to lie TO GOD (4:9) about it. Genesis chapter 4 of the progeny of Cain. Note first that Cain has his own geneology, and it is listed separately from that of Adam (ch 5) which we will cover in the next part. The reason should be plain to all by now. CAIN WAS NOT ADAM'S SON. Cain was Satan's son. (Jn 8:44, 1 Jn 3:12). Secondly, you should notice with care how the names of Cains offspring of Gen 4 so closely imitate the names of Adams children in Gen 5. This fact should cause a bell to ring in your mind....Show more

Emilie! Santmyer: Abel died and did not have a line and as for Cain:Cain's line did not survive after the flood. His genealogy stopped. Seth's leads all the way to Jesus Christ. So it is explained.

Roland Stampley: Why? You could baptize anyone by water and they not even know what your doing. Only YOU, can "repent by "immersion, it can't be done for you by anyone.Jesus was baptized in water. YES. why? Jesus lived His entire life in the mosaic age, under the Law of Moses. John The Baptist preached, "water baptism". Jesus set a example of "obedience", by following the Law. John The Baptist said himself, There will be one come after me, that will "baptize" with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ Himself, "baptized" nobody by water. He had the power to "save" people,Himself. Jesus spoke of "the age to come". What age is that? The "Christian age". That happened Acts. chapter 2. It was THEN, the Holy Spirit fell upon them in the upper room, and "filled" (baptized" by immersion). They a! ll became in ONE accord. The Bible says: You are "baptized" several ways! . It never says "water" one time. Lets look at Baptized:Into Christ Jesus Romans 6:3Into Moses 1 Cor 10:2Into one body 1 Cor 12:13for the dead 1 Cor 15:29 Mark 16:16 He who has "believed" AND is "baptized" shall be saved; but, he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.ok? That talking about John The Baptist "baptism" by water. READ the significance of the statement. He that believes and is baptized (immersed in Christ) shall be saved. ok? He that disbelieved shall be condemned. You are condemned by disbelieving, not for not being water baptized. You should be water baptized. Yes. BUT not as a prerequisit for salvation....Show more

Andre Winegar: He didn`t have to be ,he chose to be.Its a sign that we as christians are saved.

Thurman Buege: Adam didn't exist. Fictional characters do not have real genealogies.Religion is superstition.

Bo Perham: The bible doesn't count LILITH the ape from the tree, so any children he had with her would be left out of Adams mad! e up geneology!!!
