Do car dealers need registration to drive cars they're selling?

Dexter Dingus: They have dealer plates that let them drive whatever cars they want. (Or at least, any car they're selling that could legally be driven with any plate)A dealer only has so many dealer plates, though.

Mikel Bethay: To clarify, i mean the registration sticker is expired. He did have the dealer plates but not an up-to-date registration for any state.
