Byron Fortmann: Look at japan, close island and not enough roads to let people drive. High speed rail system is their only way to move around
Ezekiel Kadner: I'll guarantee that there won't be any significant use of high-speed rail in the US outside of the northeast corridor until there's more medium-speed service. Until we can catch trains to Nashville, there won't be support for lopping 15 minutes off of the time between Boston and New York.
Nona Lentini: distances are too great plus the standard gauge is too narrow for safe high speed trains, why we adopted the stupid european gauge of 4' 8.5" is a mystery we have long straight stretches where a 6 or 7 foot gauge would enable safe speeds up to 400mph with many more passengers therefore financially viable, look at the width of the bogeys and then the carriage on top of them they don't even look safe
Dick Maisenbacher: Waste of money, our infrastructure is currently falling apart, how about a high spe! ed high tech rail system, the fares will pay for it, hah fat chance.
